Online PL for maths teachers.

We’ve been PL providers for more than a decade and have seen our fair share of school development days, conferences and workshops. Through all this, if there is one subset of educators that we often see not getting the love with PL, it’s maths teachers.

When we started EC Premium, we made sure that some of the first content partners we signed had a specific focus on maths teachers. It helped that our Chief Content Officer is Maddie Scott-Jones, a former maths teacher herself!

Here are some of the maths-specific content partners that our subscribing teachers are loving at the moment:

Maths Pathways: Justin and Richard have been good friends of EC for many years, in fact their first HQ was a shared desk in our office in Melbourne a decade ago. They have done so well to scale their brilliant student learning and we couldn’t be more excited for them.

For their EC Premium content, they’ve brought out some big names in the maths world, partnering up with Eddie Woo who looks at maths techniques to support students at their point of need. And from the United States they’ve collaborated with Dan Finkel who focuses on maths tasks that create rich learning experiences.

Maths Play / The Learning Playpit: Focused on ‘exploring ways to reunite maths with play’ in the early and primary years, Maths Play is a community research project exploring the various productive intersections between play and mathematics. Their work is a collaborative effort involving teachers, schools and other organisations who develop and facilitate research-based classroom programs, spotlight other powerful research and programs, and share stories and insight from classrooms and across the education sector.

Maths Teacher Circles: Last but certainly not least is a favourite for the EC team, former maths teacher Michaela Epstein from Maths Teacher Circles. Maths Teacher Circles are a celebrated model of professional development that was launched in Australia in 2020. First formed in Eastern Europe in the 1900s, they were designed as a form of collaborative and non-competitive mathematical enrichment for students. Today, Maths Teacher Circles continues this tradition by bringing primary and secondary teachers together to explore great maths problems and share ideas about teaching. Michaela’s content on EC Premium serves up professional learning that will get you excited again about teaching maths.

Our team are hard at work bringing more mathematics-focused professional learning to EC Premium, and as always, if there is a provider that you’d love to see on the platform, just reach out to us at ec@go1.com.
